Yesterday we met up with my friend, Rachel, for a little trip to the Newport Aquarium (Newport, KY is right across the Ohio River from Cincinnati and Newport on the Levee is one of our favorite places to go with its comedy club, restaurants, movie theater, arcade, and shops). I'd never been to the aquarium before yesterday though.I think Cate had the most fun just being free to walk around. It gets crowded in the summer so they don't allow strollers unless you come in the evening. It's just as well though, as Cate loves being out of the stroller to walk anyway.
We spent a little over an hour at the aquarium pushing buttons in interactive displays and looking at the fish...and the jellyfish, and the frogs, and the penguins, and the birds-- yes, they do have all of those animals at our aquarium. Cate knows no fear right now and eagerly stuck her hand out to touch a crab at the beginning. She also plunged her hand right into the shark tank, but I don't think one swam up to her so she could touch it. After Cate wore herself out walking around the aquarium, we headed to Dewey's for some yummy pizza.
Cate was happy the entire time we were there and I think some more trips to the aquarium, if not an annual pass, are in our near future.
I have no idea how to take pictures in a dark aquarium with the cool tank lights they have. So, I didn't take too many pictures. Another reason to go back.
Cate was asleep before we even pulled out of the parking garage and proceeded to sleep for almost the next three hours! Thanks Rachel for suggesting such a fun outing! We hope you had fun too!
