Five Question Friday

Woo hoo! It's the weekend! And it's time for Mama M's weekly getting to know you blog carnival. I haven't done one of these in awhile, so I thought it would be fun.
1. What was the first car you owned?
My first car was an early 90s black Ford Escort with red interior. My dog wrecked it. Seriously. We arrived home from Myrtle Beach the summer after my junior year of high school and my brother was supposed to go with me to pick up Carly, our friendly little wiener dog, from the kennel. He didn't go. Carly got excited. I over-corrected and hit a telephone pole. To be fair though...not too long after I saw a cop car hit the same pole. After that I drove a maroon mid-90's Toyota Corolla station wagon. It was awesome. Especially with all the Dave Matthews Band stickers I had on it.

2. What song are you embarrassed to know the lyrics to?
I'm not really embarrassed to know any song lyrics. However, my friends would probably get a good chuckle out of the fact that I know many a Jessica Simpson song. And I know more than my fair share of Laurie Berkner (a kids' artist). I could freakin' be Laurie Berkner. Y'know...if I could sort of carry a tune.

3. Have you ever had stitches?
Yup, when I broke my elbow 5 days after arriving home from my freshman year of college. They held the 4 screws I had put in, in place after surgery.

4. What was your first job?
Besides babysitting, it was working as a server in the dining room of a local retirement community. I loved it! The retirees were fun (most of them) and I worked mostly with people I went to high school with, who were also fun. I worked there from the beginning of my sophomore year until I graduated and left for college. Every homecoming and prom, we had to bring our dates in and show off our dresses. The residents all clapped. It's probably the closest I'll ever come to feeling like a celebrity.

5. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
As a kid, it was definitely Grover. I still have a soft spot for him. Although when I watch it with Cate now, I do like Abby Cadabby. She of course, loves Elmo.
