Give Thanks

A year ago at this time, we didn't know each other.  Okay, well a few people in the group did, but for the most part we were perfect strangers.

But yesterday, as we carved a turkey and stuffed our bellies, we were reminded of and thankful for the blessing of friendship the last 10 months have given us.

You see, every year our church does something called an all-church journey.  It's when everyone from the smallest of kids in Kids Club (Sunday School) to the oldest of adults study the same topic for the six weeks or so preceding Easter.  The adults are all given "guides" (kind of like Bible study books) with exercises to do throughout the week after the weekend message.  These guides go along with small group meetings.  For six weeks, every adult is encouraged to meet together in a small group.  Our church is fortunate enough to have some tech-savvy staffers that put up a great website connecting people for small groups.  People that want to host a group can post where they are going to meet and when, and other people can sign up.  And that's exactly how we ended up meeting four totally awesome families last February.  And once the six-week journey ended, we decided we liked each other enough to keep meeting together.  Once a week.  It's amazing.

Our kids vary in ages from 21 months to 2nd grade, but everyone has someone to play with (funny how that works out).   We joke they will all be marrying one another (funny how there's an even number of girls and boys amongst the children too).

That is, if Cate's future husband, Tanner, doesn't take her out first.  ;-)

Yesterday we gathered together, carved a turkey, and dug into some amazing food as we celebrated Thanksgiving together.  We weren't meant to do life alone.  And we're so blessed to have this amazing group of friends in our lives now.  It's incredible to see the way God has worked these past 10 months. It's incredible the way He has of just working things out perfectly.

And we're incredibly thankful!

Amazing! Love the family part of our church, too. It's been really great for me to have our neighbors and friends nearby, since my family isn't so local.
